Day 16 (MIT) - RunnerSpace.com/Travels Season 1

After wrapping up shooting on the greatest Valentine's Day film ever, we headed over to MIT to watch a workout put on by the Boston Athletic Association for their marathon training group. The facility that houses the track, the HoJo Athletic Center, is a nice facility and a welcome escape from brisk winds that we had to lean into to make forward progress and cut at our exposed faces. The group of about 40 ran two sets of 4x800m at 5k-8k race pace. The runners varied in speed and were strung out in the course of the workout so that there was a continuous stream of runners on the 200m flat track. Afterwards we had an opportunity to talk with several of the runners. Many of them have run Boston over a dozen times and I have to believe it must be something special to have put in as much work as they do. Everyone we met was friendly and supportive of our journey, and we thank them for letting us stop by their workout and wish them the best of luck in the marathon!

Special thanks to Suzanne Walmsley and the gang at the BAA.
